What We Do

Why do people hate Jews?
Or, restated as a Jew
Why do they hate us?

Let’s answer that question with a question:
Who are we?

We are the People of the Book
The book is the Torah
The Torah tells the truth
Jews who learn Torah learn to tell the truth
People hate Jews because they hate to hear the truth

What is the truth?
God knows what we do

Unless you’re learning Torah
Knowing this is when it all goes off the rails
Because people (consciously or unconsciously)
Know what they do
And (consciously or unconsciously)
Hate themselves for it

And then, sans the Torah, inevitably conclude

If God knows what I know
Then He must hate me too

And nothing could be worse than that
So nothing is more likely to be repressed
And projected onto Jews
Which is just a fancy way to say
People hate Jews
Because they can’t bear their own truth
Leaving Jews to bear the weight
Of the real truth–
God really loves you no matter how you self—rate—
And the hate
That needs no introduction

Miraculously, we can indeed bear all that weight
If we keep getting stronger learning Torah
But if we don’t
We too will fear the truth
And join forces with those who would hide from the truth
By killing those who tell it
Pitting the self-hating Jew
Against the God-fearing Jews

The latter of whom make way for Moshiach
While the former is left grasping after the truth about Moshiach
Perhaps finally choosing to grasp the Torah
And learn the hard way
Or taking the easy way out
By waiting to see what happens
Which only makes their wait
And ours
That much longer

But that’s okay
Since we need every minute we can get to demonstrate to them
That God needs every Yid
By showing them that we need them too
In how we take care of them

Would you like to learn some Torah with me?
It’s more difficult than you can possibly imagine
And you’re going to love it
Because God loves you
And nothing you do
Can ever change that
Since the Torah never changes
Which is how it changes you
