We’re Not Waiting for Moshiach; Moshiach Is Waiting for an Invitation
When you send an invitation
You are communicating to someone that
They are both welcome and expected
To show Moshiach that he is welcome
We must welcome him into our hearts
By listening to our hearts
Not for the drumbeat of war with ourselves
But for the beat of our own drummer
Discovering that Moshiach was there in our hearts
All along
To show Moshiach that he is expected
We must first stop lowering our expectations
Now so low that we expect nothing from ourselves
But to sit back and relax and enjoy the show
Which sounds like great advice until the show’s over
Yet now that it’s all over
We expect a sequel
As in more of the same
Though we can’t afford a ticket
Because the price of admission is our soul
And we’ve already sold it
Of course, you can always have your soul back
If you’re willing to work for it
Since work is what souls are for
And you’ll know it’s the soul’s work
When it involves love
And then, if you love your work
You’ll need to rest up so you can do more of it
Bringing us to Shabbos
Which is 25 hours long because
Love and work always bring more than expected
That’s our final clue for expecting Moshiach–
The paradox of expecting a surprise
Moshiach will come when we tell him
Surprise us
We tell him on Shabbos
