The Wellness Craze
It should come as no surprise that
According to the National Institute of Mental Health
“An estimated 49.5 percent of adolescents
has had a mental health disorder
at some point in their lives”
Because, if you wanted to destabilize civilization
You would aim for an equal chance
50/50
Between mental health and mental health disorders
Thereby erasing the distinction
As both become equally normal
Or abnormal
Leaving us to substitute aspirational wellness for indefinable health
Since we may as well
Now that civilization is a job well done
Which is nice way of saying it’s finished
And will heretofore be administered by machines we’d be insane to trust
If only we could trust ourselves
Mind you, if this all sounds crazy
And you want a second opinion
Just flip a coin–
If you’re careful to flip it while holding it heads up
You have a 51% chance that it will land heads up
Which gives you better odds at getting the answer you want
Than our adolescents face
Trying to keep their heads above water
In our sea of confusion
