Like many of you
All my life
I’ve been trying to predict
What will happen when
The unstoppable force
Hits the immovable object
Ostensibly so that I can sow peace
But really so that I can pick up the gold pieces
Imagine my surprise, then
When the unstoppable force
Stops to talk
With the immovable object
Who is moved to tears
If any of us had half a brain
We’d all be predicting miracles
Because the best predictor of future behavior
Is past behavior
And it’s a miracle that
We’ve made it this far
