Success and Failure Aren’t the Grades After Your Test; They Are the Test, and Success Is an Advance Placement Test

Success and failure
Have nothing to do with what you deserve
And everything to do with what you need
Making it equally important
In victory and defeat
To say:
I don’t deserve this
But I need to learn from it

Failure
While more painful than success
Is for that very reason
Less dangerous than success
Because it is easier to learn from

Success
Is life’s harshest taskmaster
Requiring levels of dedication and humility
Orders of magnitude beyond the common ground most of us tread

Which is why God, in His mercy
Strews our path with failure
That we might learn enough to succeed
When we eventually succeed
