In the Age of Paranoia Everyone Will Feel Like They’re Being Followed, Especially by Their Friends

When you cut the umbilical cord
children remain reliant on their parents
until they start to become self-reliant
by attaching to their friends
as a step towards the full self-reliance
found in replacing their parents with God

But we’re all stuck in banal adolescent melodrama
because we thought we cut the cord
when we went wireless
but we’ve only grown more connected
to our friends and followers
leaving us all rotting on the vine
like grapes without a vintner
