Riddle me this:
The Riddler commits crimes of the heart
By loving each and every one of us indiscriminately
But always leaves clues behind
In the form of a riddle
Our great crime
Is trying to solve the crime
By ignoring the riddle–
We call this materialism
And materialists will never solve the crime
Because they pretend there is no riddle
Leaving the materialists to devote all of their energies
To crime’s twin, punishment
And who better to punish
Than the people who have solved the riddle
Having long since devoted themselves
To the Book of Riddles
What is the answer to the riddle?
God’s indiscriminate love is not a crime
Leaving us all free to leave our prisons of brick and mortar
And take as much responsibility as we can
Because with the strength of God
It feels weightless
