On Solid Ground

“Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.”
Dalai Lama
“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.”
Lao Tzu

A Sonnet

Their marriage is anchored on solid ground
Not on soft clayey mud nor shifting sand
Thus able to weather the days storm-bound
Avoid the rough seas, stay firmly on land

Their union built on love; mutual respect
Not centered on lust nor carnal passion
A firm commitment not benign neglect
Though there’s healthy physical attraction

A marriage made and conceived in heaven
With it comes the blessings from the Most High
Their love’s wholesome; never an obsession
Tis as beautiful as a butterfly

Thriving enduring till the end of time
Wherever the place, whatever the clime
