The Big Wheel

“If you are ignorant of God’s Word, you will always be ignorant of God’s will.”
– Billy Graham

“When the world beats you down, open up your Bible.”
– Lysa TerKeurst

Our universe a locked cage
We’re hamsters on a big wheel
Pointless round and round we go
Not a moment to be still

And when the world overwhelms
Futile and helpless we feel
When the skies are overcast
Living loses its appeal
Existence loses meaning
The future outlook daunting

On dark days we gaze above
Relief, we beseech heaven
For guidance and assistance
Pray life’s purpose be given

Pray our ordeals have substance
Our shortcomings forgiven
When we face tribulations
Be confident ne’er craven!
Be not hamsters on a wheel
But God’s children with free will

When we’re beset with troubles
When our vision appears blurred
When life’s a confusing maze
Turn towards the written Word

In the pages of the Book
Countless guidelines from the Lord
To keep us in the right path
To be lost we can’t afford

When we heed; His laws obey
Then existence gains meaning
In His graces we shall stay
And our life never wanting

It’s through our fervent prayers
That to our Maker we speak
But through the Book He answers
Whenever the truth we seek

His messages are for all
Most especially the weak
To have the will to fight on
When life’s prospects appear bleak

May His Word always guide us
As we climb the mountain peak
May our prayers reach heaven
Every day of every week
In the end may we join Him
And sing with the cherubim!
