The Golden Buzzer
I.
Few weeks ago, we were watching a talent show
Where magicians displayed such clever wizardry
And several songbirds set our spirits aglow
Yes, there were some who resorted to trickery
To sway and convince the judges and the viewers
Some even sobbed to impress with their sad story!
But all of them just wanted to be a winner
From above be showered with golden confetti
And receive the ultimate– the golden buzzer!
The buzzer, passport to a new reality
Onwards to continue, perform at center stage
While for unlucky ones a stark finality!
Yet there’s hope eternal for all at every age
Dreams and longings, the golden buzzer will assuage
II.
In our lives, we too long for a golden buzzer
Earn the ticket, we may bypass life’s suffering
Cheat death! go on to live in heaven forever!
Enoch and Elijah received the Lord’s blessing
Only two in human recorded history
Avoiding death, they have gained life everlasting
For all of us, it’s the ultimate victory
There’s Enoch, Elijah – footsteps we could follow
They walked with God and avoided death’s misery
It’s not just a wish, nor a dream till tomorrow
But a sincere hope - tame death, gain life hereafter,
Like Enoch may we annul death’s pain and sorrow
Like Elijah, may a chariot be our buzzer
And in that glorious morn, may we meet our Maker!
