I.
Little mustard seed, windblown miles away
Lands in fertile soil; blest with rain it grew
In the morning breeze its yellow leaves sway
Surrounded by blossoms of every hue
Atop a green meadow, the tree stands tall
As it overlooks a quaint seaside view
Nature’s beauty, away from urban sprawl
Spreading its wings; soaking in the sun
Tall sturdy tree, yet from a seed so small
Now summer days numbered, fall has begun
Autumn wind will soon send seeds on their way
To well-watered glades o’er the horizon
Pray one seed flourish, e’en if others stray
Its young leaves be skyward at start of day
II.
Faith begins tiny too, a mustard seed
But in our hearts, it can grow and flourish
And thrive even amongst the meanest weed
It’ll blossom, by the living Word nourish’d
Nurtured by nuggets of wisdom and truth
And the enemy’s onslaught thus perish’d
Even in the unsettled days of youth
For the Word shall send blessings outpouring
A strong canine shall spring up from milk tooth
The seeds of faith, sprout it will in the spring
And blossom in the warmth of summer days
In late autumn, the heart’s ready to sing
To spread the good Word, to give Him due praise
Send out seeds to set other hearts ablaze!
