Why Brainiacs Are So Often Maniacs

A lot of brainiacs fail to believe in God
Because their excellent brains
Fail the brainiacs

What does a brain do?

Because of the ever-shifting tides of chaos
The brain imposes order by categorizing
But God, the wellspring of chaos through which we find order
Doesn’t fit into any of the brain’s categories;
And uncategorizable means, for the brain
Unbelievable

Because no one and nothing is reliable
The brain secures safety
By finding patterns and making predictions
But even though no one and nothing is reliable
God is One and the thing is
He is totally unpredictable and completely reliable;
The brain is just going to have to chance it
And the brain says
No chance

Our brains demand predictable order
But God has other plans

What are we to do?

Do we plan to join Him and discover
Or, predictably
Follow the brain’s orders and never recover
