And democracy merely involves symbolic death
But democracy has an illness
That may well prove terminal
Reverting us from symbolic death
Back to death itself
Because the people have lost interest
In life after symbolic death–
Which is known as growing up–
Preferring the immortality of staying children forever
And being told exactly what to do
But not what to think
Since thinking is punishable by death
As the threat of death is projected on the other
And that’s why you can always tell who’s a totalitarian–
They want to kill Jews
