God Knows, If We Ever Find Meaning on the Road We’ll Surely Kill It, so, God Made the Meaning of Life Our Search for Meaning

Language shouldn’t work

A word, all words
Are defined by other words
Defined by still further words
And on and on
Ad infinitum

Surely the whole thing is a house of cards
Ready to collapse
As soon as we place our next Joker

Because this language of ours has to be a joke
When all meaning
Even the meaning of meaning
Is forever deferred
Yet one word away
And another
And another
Until the whole construct comes to seem meaningless

You get what I mean?

Of course, you do–
The wild goose chase
Never catches the goose
That laid the golden egg
Preventing us from killing it
So, language still works
