Can’t Buy Me Time

Money is an illusion that fools almost all of us–
We only have one currency to spend
And it is time

At the time of judgment day
We will only be asked one question:
Into what have you been putting your time?

Our answer renders our own verdict
Because the afterlife redeems the time of our lives
Like the payout window at a Vegas casino
The difference being that in life
You’re going to run out of time anyway
So you may as well risk it all
By spending all of your time on what matters most

And there’s no time to lose
Because as a mortal you’ve always already lost it
Born knowing the House always wins
So, if it feels like you’re losing it
You’re on the right track;
Once it’s completely gone
Let’s see what you’ve found in yourself

But in the meantime
For as long as you keep showing up
The drinks are on the House
And the buffet is all-you-can-eat
As your money isn’t good here
Because all that God wants
Is your time
Which is exactly what you’ve been given
