He loves her. He loves her passionately
Physical kind of love and sexual desire
But she couldn’t; because she’s not free
She wouldn’t; though her heart’s on fire
He proposed a break; it’s but a breather
To last until the time she’s totally free
But she’s afraid their love will wither
She would rather end it, than let it be
He proposed a break; she won’t even try
It’s all or nothing; stay or be gone
Reluctantly, he let go and said goodbye
Even if it’s the hardest he’s ever done
It’s what happens when untrusting souls
Meet each other in the twilight of life
They’ve been cast adrift in perilous shoals
Their old lives full of anger and strife
He says he loves her but she thinks: Why?
He loves her; but she heard it all before
Second chance romance, that’s one big lie
It only happens in novels, one big metaphor
If only they could trust a little more
Things will not be such gloom and doom
If only they don’t try to even the score
Days will be sunny; flowers will bloom
Alas!
