Inside the Walls

"If you entrench yourself behind strong fortifications, you compel the enemy seek a solution elsewhere."
~Carl von Clausewitz

Walls are built to keep the enemy out
To protect the faithful who are within
Still, outsiders welcome without a doubt
And it matters not whatever their sin

For God hates the sin, never the sinner
Ask for mercy, and  he’d be forgiven
The walls will open! and he can enter
To relish the promises of heaven

But the walls must always be fortified
Against the evil one and his minions
Be on constant guard against what’s outside
For around the walls are demonic legions

Outside the walls, the world’s tantalizing
The glitter and sparkle bewitches all
Yes, some will find themselves fantasizing
Always safer to stay inside the wall

We’re not to love the world though we’re in it
To its glamour and allure, conform not
Inside virtual walls, strengthen our spirit
To resist temptation in deed and thought

Empower our spirits; stay in the keep
With the Lord’s outstretched arms in an embrace
Guarding, nourishing all the little sheep
Showering everyone with divine Grace!
In the dark fearful nights whilst we’re asleep
Mighty angels will protect us always
