The Rose and the Lily
Crimson petals burn
soft as fire upon the stem
thorns that pierce the skin
love and pain entwined as one
passion’s glow will not be done
Pale and pure it stands
bathed in light of morning’s grace
silent in its peace
blessing both the bride and lost
soft as prayers the breezes toss
One a burning flame
one as cool as silver mist
both from earth arise
love that wounds and love that soothes
woven deep in fate’s own truths
Passion blazes strong and bright
purity is soft and light
one may scorch and one may heal
both are truths that love reveals
