Silent Reverie

Dedicated to my Sweetheart

An Acrostic Sonnet

Soft as the dawn, her presence stirs the air

In shadows, her quiet glow takes its place

Morning’s tender blush cannot compare

Pale cheeks that cradle light with gentle grace

Lost in her voice, a melody so low

In her, the whispers of a tranquil stream

Calm are her eyes, where endless rivers flow

In her gaze, he finds his fleeting dream

All he desires is wrapped within her gaze

Even her absence holds a sweet embrace

Veil his longing in these subdued displays

Once near her, time slows down losing its pace

Remains his heart, as quiet as the stars

A beacon soft, yet brighter than they are!

Acrostic - should really be “acrostich” or “acrostikh” - comes from acro- and stichos () row or line. It means a poem where the first letter of each line forms another word or a message, or a word puzzle using the initials of words. In this poem, the name of someone dear to me.
