Winter News

“Summer friends will melt away like summer snows, but winter friends are friends forever.”
George R.R. Martin

Rugged mountains line the edge of the sky
Majestic snow-capped peaks rise to heaven
While ecru clouds float lazily up high

Cumulus by playful west wind driven
A wedge of honking geese flying southward
On their yearly flight to winter haven

Below, on powdery slopes crowds snowboard
Slicing through virgin freshly fallen snow
The winding tracks crisscrossing smorgasbord

There’s joy in the air, festive hearts aglow
In the town downhill with holiday lights
Still early, since winter starts tomorrow

The streets reflect the glow of starry nights
Where children race with sleds on icy ground
The air is sharp, yet full of warm delights

The shops are bustling, laughter all around
As scarves and mittens wrap each passerby
The glow of firelight calls without a sound

A sudden snowfall from the thickened sky
Brings gasps of wonder from the crowd below
As swirling flakes like stars begin to fly

The trees are frosted, bending low with snow
While lanterns flicker soft in amber hues
And whispers of the coming winter grow

A peaceful calm beneath the twilight views
The town embrace the welcome weather news
