A Sonnet
A sense of impermanence in the air
Just as the sun dips low beyond the hills
This blessed moment won’t last forever
Overcome by darkness and nighttime chills
But it’s a moment we can store for keeps
Lodged in the heart and nestled in the mind
To lift our spirits when the silence seeps
And hope feels lost, too fragile to unwind
Though harsh realities may press us low
The weight of life can never steal our past
These fleeting joys we’ve gathered brightly glow
A lantern’s flame against the tempest’s blast
In treasured moments solace we shall find
For memory’s balm sustains the weary mind
