In the Shadow of Fuji

A Japanese proverb: "A wise man will climb Mount Fuji once. Only a fool climbs it twice"

Soon as we woke up, in our balcony
Fuji-san majestic in her beauty
White-capped; shining in the soft morning glow
A timeless wonder crowned with pearly snow

The pink-yellow tinge of the mountain peak
Whispers of dawn in hues both soft and sleek
It crowns the grey where sea and sky unfold
As the sun climbs, resplendent, bright, and bold

The day beckons, and we shall heed the call
A lovely start, as scenic views enthrall
We’ll frolic in sunshine, breathe in the air
Luxuriate in nature’s beauty and flair

For Fuji-san atop our bucket list
One of God’s handiworks we can’t resist
Few can rival its magic and grandeur
A timeless beacon, steadfast and so pure

We’ll spend today under Fuji’s shadow
Enjoy this good fortune till tomorrow
Appease our senses with the mise-en-scène
These fleeting moments, peaceful and serene

At various times, we’ll gaze at the mountain
A fresh perspective waiting to obtain
To see its beauty shift with light’s soft playing
From early morning until late evening

As Fuji stands in majesty and grace,
A reminder of God’s eternal place
The heavens declare His wonders abroad,
So, we will proclaim the greatness of God
With hearts full of awe, we lift up our gaze,
And thank Him for this beauty all our days
