Sunday Early

The beach gives me porpoise. ~Unknown
If you need to reach me, call me on my shell. ~Unknown

Sunday early I woke up
Three hours before I planned to
Tried hard to get more shuteye
But my brains just turned to goo
I stared up eyes wide open
Wondering what next to do

Stood up looked out the window
Sun is out the sky so blue
Aah! Lovely day it will be
It’s time to savor a brew
But then the racket started
My neighbor’s gardening crew

The whirring sound deafening
It drove my morning askew
So I got up and got dressed
And out of the house I flew
In quick time I’m at the beach
Enjoying the ocean view

Laid my back in the beach chair
Tried to shut my eyes anew
But two girls in front of me
Both pretty and one was you
How we met that fateful day
And you know that to be true

Sunday early I was lucky
My temper I did subdue
Were it not for the mowers
I would never have met you!
