Some verses written
Will ne’er see the light of day
In my heart they’ll stay
Pieces of myself they are
Locked tight in a Mason jar
In scraps of paper
Written cursive now faded
None of them dated
Innermost thoughts from my youth
Crazy things some of them Goth
These truths will ne’er out
Forever they’re my secrets
There’ll be no regrets
Keep the genie bottled up
In my holy grail, my cup
Nothing earth-shaking
But still quite embarrassing
See, I am blushing
So in Mason jar they’ll stay
My lips sealed nothing to say
Burn the evidence
Burn them with sticks of incense
Wouldn’t that make sense
Up in smoke scraps of paper
Light them all with a taper
Alas! I’m too late
My wife found my secret stash
She threw in the trash
Read them? she didn’t bother
All hail! secrets forever!
