Growing old too tough for the young
Their childish minds will be hamstrung
But we old fogies can ace it
With determination and grit
Body aches and pain each morning
The agony lasts till evening
Still we face the world without bile
And in our face a cheerful smile
The years gave us the experience
In time we developed patience
The stiff joints creak with every bend,
Got aching knees that never mend
Back that groans with every new dawn,
With sleepy eyes we greet the morn
Hands once strong now shaking with strain
Throbbing aches whenever it rains
But not to worry! my young friends
Years will train you before youth ends
Four decades, you’ll be where we are
Walking slowly; and not too far
The aches and pain won’t melt away
As sunlight drives away the gray
Yet, there’s joy in the twilight years
We face the future without fears
For in old age we gain wisdom
Clearer insights to God’s kingdom
We celebrate a life well-lived
In His home, may we be received
