Echoes & Reflections

"Life is a mirror and you get back what you give out."
Tess Daly

He heard loud echoes in the wind
But it was just the sound of his voice
His conscience reprimanding him
For his life’s a mess; albeit by choice!

Early this morning, he looked in the mirror
He saw himself; his pitiful reflection
He’s a train wreck; everything in chaos
Blowing in the wind, with no direction

What happened to his life, his youth
That started out with so much promise?
He wasted long years in wrong pursuits
That’s the reason! If to himself, he’s honest

But he was blind, or blinded by pride
He blamed luck, circumstance, even fate
Rather than accept what in his heart
He knows to be true; now it may be too late!

Now, he’s close to the end of the road
Running out of time to right his ways
Undo the errors, the wrongs he’s done
Accept he’s the reason for his malaise

For the echoes are getting louder each day
His conscience chastises even more
And every morning, in the mirror he sees
His reflections, he himself would abhor

One of those poems I wrote in 2015 or nine years ago that I stuck in a folder. Somehow it saw daylight today. With a few revisions I thought I could post it. Maybe LOL
