Roller Coaster
When buffeted with today’s troubles
Easy to lose sight of one’s scruples
Easier to bow to revenge and vengeance
Than perhaps revisit God’s acquaintance
But smooth seas do not a good sailor make
Character’s born in life’s turbulent wake
Someone said that life’s a roller coaster
The ups and downs simply make us better
A hot furnace forges the sharpest sword
Young minds are tested in a chess board
Soldiers persevere in an obstacle course
As they train to withstand a mighty force
And so learn to accept life’s challenges
Always be ready if the weather changes
If the coaster goes up, feel the anticipation
On the way down, a sense of exhilaration
Close not your heart to love and romance
It’s up and down but you’ll enjoy the dance
Keep an open mind to all the possibilities
And gladly welcome life’s serendipities
