Life is a Carousel

“You will always be my first, last and only love.”
Ana Huang, Twisted Lies
"Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope"
– Maya Angelou

He kissed her lips; the world turned upside down
The earth moved; things will never be the same
This uneasy feeling; love is its name
She kissed him back; the world went off the ground

They were teenagers when in love they fell
Now in their eighties they’re still together
If they’re immortal, it’ll be forever
Their love undying, a perfect circle

Wasn’t always apples and caramel
They went through times when the sea was rougher
But when together, there’s joy and laughter
Though not a circus, life’s a carousel

A few grains of sand left in the hourglass
Fewer autumn leaves clinging to the bough
It’s twilight, darkness follows afterglow
Soon enough everything will come to pass

Their yesterdays outnumber tomorrows
Most pages of their book already writ
But few left to fill if time will permit
Delightful moments; hoping no sorrows

But they both know that the time will be soon
Their sincerest hope they’ll go together
Neither will last long without the other
For the night sky can’t be without a moon

Today hand in hand they walk in the beach
He kissed her and the world turned upside down
Then she kissed him back, world goes round and round
They’re together, happiness within reach

Today, they’ve decided to be happy
Tomorrow, whatever will be will be!
