HER FAVORITE ANGEL

The tears she shed are for you, Mom
Not too long ago had you departed.
She awoke this lonely night
And once again it started.

The loss of their daily phone calls,
Their tete-a-tete together.
With you around, she always found
That new chance to endeavor.

The bits of wisdom you poured forth,
The strength you gave her from afar...
You were her cheering section—
Her “ever-guiding star.”

She knows you would want her happiness, Mom
Your kindness and love, she did appreciate.
Remembering your good and humble ways;
These, she hopes to imitate.

She’s glad she had this little cry
You were always her boulder.
She’ll settle for you now, Dear Mom
As that “Angel on my shoulder.”
