Winter Solstice

Giants of frigid winter’s night,
From ancient homes of sightless sight,
Not to be seen or subsequently heard,
But in place for the solstice to occur,

They tilt the earth away from the sun
As they reach the limits their task begun.
They tilt it back as the days grow longer
And the rays of the sun grow ever stronger.
‘Tis a bright future ahead for winter’s woes.
