Hylas and the Nymphs, by John William Waterhouse
Robert L. Martin

The Lift

Inspiration, my heroine to me came forth,
My lady of thought and soothing warmth,
Her hidden words in the dark of the night,
Shone her beacon and brought me to the light.

Lifted me up where I saw her storied eyes,
Her mystifying depths, her celestial highs,
Her shimmering waters, her vibrant prose,
I stand perplexed, ‘tis me she chose.

She gave me stories and ancient truths,
Of flying steeds with golden hooves,
Carried me to the lands beyond belief,
Reached into me and cast out my grief.
With my mind full of exhilarating rhymes,
She lifted me upward to exotic climes.
I declare myself a poet, a transcended poet.

I wish I was there with you if only to listen to her prose and stories of wonderlands. And transcended as well to boot, maybe. Love it. Thanks Robert.

Thanks Nelson. Inspiration comes to me when I least expect it. What a wonderful feeling it is.
