Land of the Free

Land of the Free

“Living in the
Land of the Free”
The good life is
achieved by
applying one’s self
to the best
of his ability
and sticking to a
careful plan,
drawn up
through introspection
and foresight to
to find what will
make him contented
with what occupation
he chooses.
He has to find his talents and
what he loves doing
and do everything
he has to do in order
to be successful at it.
If he is diligent
and attentive,
there is no reason
that it can’t be done.

Achieving what one
sets out to accomplish
is a result of perseverance,
careful planning, and
hard work.  Poverty is
usually the result of
poor planning and laziness,
and not the result of oppression.
Living the good life in
the land of the free
is working hard to
make it happen.

“Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. YOU can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom.”-Nelson Mandela

So my poem did have some credence to it. That's nice to hear. I believe that in America, the good life is attainable for everyone. Poverty is man made.
