**Sestina of Self-Deception**

In echoes of your laughter’s dulcet trill,
My body falters, shattered into flight.

Like Icarus, I soar too close to the sun,
Deluded by self-love’s pernicious flame,
A phoenix rising from the fire undone,
To meet a swift and certain hour of shame.

Within these walls, self-exiled and alone,
I live and die, succumbing to my own game.

In shadows cast by memories profound,
I wander lost, a spirit adrift and torn,
A flicker in the void where truth is drowned,
A captive to the tempest within my scorn.

In this realm of illusion, I expire,
Where love and loss ignite a fatal pyre
