The sun bade goodbye for the day
Quickly sank below the skyline
Then night shadows rolled as trees sway
Cool the breeze, from the dark ocean
He stood atop the crested hill
Darkness embracing him snugly
Sheltering him from the wind chill
The silv’ry moon shining brightly
He closed his eyes for a long time
Wishing the day will last longer
Hoping magical bells will chime
And the sweet sensations linger
Day’s been pleasant and eventful
Great things finally taking place
Lady Luck appears more gentle
At long last, he’s in His good grace
He trudged up the hill at sunset
Bottle of Cabernet in hand
Savor the day he won’t forget
The future’s now in His command
He took a sip, toasted the day
Looked up the skies in gratitude
Gone are the clouds dreary and gray
His faith in God’s love now renewed
Then he watched last sliver of light
From the sun; as it sinks below
The skyline, to welcome the night
Knowing it shall rise tomorrow
So to the day– he bade goodbye
But to the sun: See you again!
One last look at the starry sky
In his heart he feels no more pain
