The crimson orb sank slowly
Till completely out of view
The pale yellow moon rises
To brighten the sky’s dark hue
Ghost night shadows race across
Fields sodden with evening dew
We watch the day’s last remains
Feeling bittersweet and blue
For a blissful day ended
A joyous chapter is through
But there’s hope that tomorrow
Good fortune will continue
We counted all our blessings
While gazing at starlit skies
Wond’ring if we deserve all
God’s graces before our eyes
A fervent pray’r in silence
Words we need not vocalize
Give thanks for our providence
Bounties sometimes in disguise
A cloud bank flew from the west
An answer to nature’s cries
As life-giving raindrops fall
To our pray’rs heaven replies!
At midnight stars reappear
Skies shimmer like crushed velvet
Then silence lulls us to sleep
No wishes remain unmet!
Stars be angels guarding us
Harm or danger they won’t let
We’ll wake to see the sun rise
Perchance tomorrow’s sunset
