Standstill

“Daydream, imagine, and reflect. It’s the source of infinite creativity.”
Deepak Chopra.

“Lying in bed and daydreaming was the best thing I did all day.”
Marty Rubin

The time has stopped, universe at standstill
Today’s just a mirror of yesterday
My life’s become a tiresome carousel
Pointless trifling tasks to while hours away

The fun and passion of my younger years
Replaced by the drudgery of old age
The vibrancy of youth that knew no fears
Poof! I’m but a meek tiger in a cage

But my mind can roam where my body can’t
Imaginary worlds that may exist
Odysseys, adventures, exploits perchance
Beyond the oceans! I just can’t resist
Thus, this afternoon in my rocking chair
Eyes I’ll close, mount my horse with oomph and flair

Atop a hill, sword in hand on my mount
There I saw an army stretching for miles
But the sun’s behind us, we’ve higher ground
Vict’ry ours! We couldn’t hide our wide smiles

Then a thund’rous roar from the enemy
As their cavalry charged toward our lines
We remained motionless but we’re ready
More so our archers from behind the pines

Our arrows rained on the advancing horde
Warriors fell off their horses all around
Tis time for us to charge; I raised my sword
A roar from our lines as the trumpets sound!
Sadly, the loud music awakened me
Denying this old fart, the victory!
