New Beginnings

“There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.”
—Louis L’Amour

A Sonnet

The journey starts wherever we may stand
Our train won’t move, unless we will it so
The future waits, though we’re not clairvoyant
But it’s ours to shape, when we choose to go

No path ahead will form without our will
For every step we take will guide the way
The course unknown, yet we can feel the thrill
Of new beginnings, rising with the day

So, cast aside the fears that hold us fast
And boldly stride toward what lies ahead
The past is gone, its shadows cannot last
In forward motion, hope is ever spread

The journey’s ours, the choice is in our hand
To seek the life we dream, to rise, to stand
