take a nap or read a book
a slow day not much to do
rocking chair by the window
perhaps admire the great view
but nimbus darkened the sky
raindrops fell as if on cue
on the roof pitter patter
thus, reading for now adieu
sound of rain so inviting
shut my eyes and dream anew
as my consciousness drifted
goddess I see; and it’s you!
as always, it’s exciting
you’re fresh as the morning dew
your smile brings me happiness
now, you know that to be true
stay with me a while longer
e’en just for an hour or two
ever since you said goodbye
all the brightest stars withdrew
you had to go; that I know
but you turned my world askew
days grim gloomy forsaken
night dreams empty without you
even in my waking hours
what to do I’ve got no clue
how I wish you’ve never left
leave me behind sad and blue

3aAll we are left with, memories. I am sure and I am actually looking forward to it that there would be searching of our soul and tears in our hearts when those sweet loving memories come back during our musing moments, which would be often. But as your poem says there is no true loss when there is the memory of love. Star and heart. Thank you Brod.

3a@Nelson D Reyes Thanks so much for liking and faving this poem. I've been lucky so far that I haven't lost my sweetheart and I wouldn't know how I would react. I don't want to ever find out. It must be devastating for sure. 👍😊✨✨

3aSad but beautiful! Reminds me of one of my favorite songs "Memories" by Barbara Striesand.

3aIt is devastating to lose loved ones, especially your sweetheart, but Gods Grace is sufficient. I know you feel blessed to have you lovely wife Sim. She seems like such a lovely person, with a beautiful soul. Liked your poem.

3aThank you so much for liking. My wife asked why I write sad poems. And I told her that sad poems are more powerful instruments to evoke feelings. @Charlotte B. Williams
