morning dew

"Life is fragile, like the dew hanging delicately on the grass, crystal drops that will be carried away on the first morning breeze."
— Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

take a nap or read a book
a slow day not much to do
rocking chair by the window
perhaps admire the great view

but nimbus darkened the sky
raindrops fell as if on cue
on the roof pitter patter
thus, reading for now adieu

sound of rain so inviting
shut my eyes and dream anew
as my consciousness drifted
goddess I see; and it’s you!

as always, it’s exciting
you’re fresh as the morning dew
your smile brings me happiness
now, you know that to be true

stay with me a while longer
e’en just for an hour or two
ever since you said goodbye
all the brightest stars withdrew

you had to go; that I know
but you turned my world askew
days grim gloomy forsaken
night dreams empty without you

even in my waking hours
what to do I’ve got no clue
how I wish you’ve never left
leave me behind sad and blue
