Long Lost Voice

She’s but a hamster in a cage, forever running;
In perpetual motion yet going nowhere!
She felt trapped; her world’s spinning
Out of control, the pain she can no longer bear!

Her life  a prison; escape appeared unlikely
At times, she wanted to crawl into a cocoon
To become nobody; but then, isn’t she already?
So, she’s hopeful oblivion would come soon!

She prayed for wings, so she could fly
Away from the shambles her life has become
Surely, regret will shadow her even up in the sky
There to torment her until her spirits numb!

So reluctantly, willfully; she stood her ground
To face her demons; confront her nemesis
She dared speak, and her voice echoed all around!
For the first time, she felt free and at peace!

The weight of the world has been lifted at last
And immediately scales fell from her eyes;
She realized the days of timidity are past
And now, her ears will be sheltered from the lies!

Her voice she found; lose it, she’ll never again!
And her heart, she’ll guard above all else!
Happiness she’ll seek on earth and in heaven
Sadness and hopelessness bid their farewells!
