The Cardinal & the Hummingbird
A flash of crimson
Perched upon the cedar tree
A bold voice rings bright—
A guardian from up above
The messenger of pure love
The redbird sings loud and clear
A sign, loved ones still are near
Through darkest nights, brightest days
His song guides us through the haze
Wings like whispered winds
Dancing in the golden light
A fleeting embrace—
A spirit’s touch from the skies
Eternal joy in its eyes
It flits, darts with boundless cheer
Fleeting spark that won’t stay near
In its flight a truth we see
Life’s greatest joys, wild and free
The red bird proclaims
He is steadfast, strong and true
The small bird replies
He is fleeting light and free—
Yet both of them touch the sky
One will stand, while one must roam
Each will find a place called home
One hums soft, one sings so bright
Both will rise into the light!
