The truth is: sometimes, we don’t try
To heal; for pain still lets us feel
It keeps what’s been lost, close and real
We’d rather ache than say goodbye
We hang on to the memories
And the happiest ones most dear
Though gone, we keep them ever near
And trap ourselves in time’s cold breeze
We rather suffer than forget
Keep thorns when the petals are gone
Still dancing when the music’s done
Ensnared in sorrow and regret
It’s a hindrance to moving on
Hurdle to finding happiness,
A bleak future of emptiness
Days are dreary; and sunshine gone
We hear the whispers, soft yet true
A voice that stirs the silent air
It tells us grief is not despair
The past still lives, but we must too!
To move forward, we must forgive
But more crucial, release the past
Embrace the days that come so fast
In the sunshine, begin to live
The weight we bore now drifts away
No chains remain to hold us tight
The dawn has come, restoring light
We step into a brighter day
The past remains, yet we are free
Its echoes now bring love, not pain
With open hearts, we heal again
And walk toward all that’s yet to be!
