I Am Learning

Vapor things crawl out of sight
Shadowed shapes loose in the night
When company comes I don’t see them come in
A crash and a laugh and I know where they’ve been
They don’t put on the lights or sit in the chairs
When I enter the room I can feel their hard stares
My love is a fingertip touching my cheek
My love gets things done without needing to speak
His kisses are breezes  embraces are snow
I float in a space that is starting to grow
I am learning to use the best part of my brain
I am learning to travel unearthly terrain
From living with someone whose knowledge is wide
From living with one who has already died
