Light and Heat

When we first met I saw your light and felt your heat

Unaccustomed to the  brilliance, I almost began to retreat.

But I stood my ground, when in the past I would have ran.

Hoping our love was too hot and bright to be a flash in the pan.

A powerful woman and embodiment of the divine feminine you are.

I see you and honor you, and with you I’ve caught a falling star.

I’d put that star in my pocket and carry it around.

But, you will not survive if you are pocket-bound.

And my pocket cannot contain your brilliance or your heat.

You rightfully insist you stand on your own two feet.

I will stand there beside you unless you tell me to go.

I will stand there beside you in the warmth of your glow.

I will stand there beside you and see visions in your light.

I will stand there and cheer as your spirit takes flight.

Powerful woman, divine feminine, my mate.

I’m grateful I found you before it’s too late.
