Growth Opportunity
Dull aching pain begins in my lower abdomen
Triggering behavior that could warrant amends
It moves up my torso to the bottom of my diaphragm
Pushing up on my lungs like a medieval battering ram
Breathing shallow breaths –my lungs won’t fill with air
Is it be the beginning of an illness, or is it just despair
Desperate gnawing pain in my stomach’s pit
Resisting fight or flight, with this feeling I will sit
Will it eventually grow weaker, or will I just eventually die
Or will I eventually push it down, or maybe just get high
