Unwelcome guest refusing to go
Hauntingly present, always in tow
At first it’s sharp and resides in the heart
A dull ache spreads quickly, after it starts
****
With its arrival sometimes panic ensues
Panic then triggers frantic pursuits
Frantic pursuits cause a chain reaction
And a price to be paid to purchase distraction
****
This pain is not a hole and it cannot be filled
This pain cannot be cured with a pain numbing pill
This pain cannot be escaped, there’s nowhere to run
This pain must be endured, until this pain is done
****
Unavoidable pain mistaken for need-i-ness
Nothing to be done, no injustice to-be-redressed
Unrelenting pain causing predictable strife
Nothing to be feared, after all it’s just life
