Precariously balanced, I live on the edge
The view is better here
Sometimes I slip from a rocky ledge
Falling from grace and consumed by fear
Then comes pain and healing
Resting comfortably on stable ground
Then returns a familiar feeling
Luring me summit bound
Deftly I climb to harrowing heights
Desperately holding on for dear life
Gazing at vista's breathtaking sights
Perched high above my earthbound strife
Gasping breaths of rarefied air
Body battered by hostile terrain
By heavens invite or devils dare
Heart racing fire I can't contain
From the vantage of distance I see what is dear
Microscopic distractions concealed
From the vantage of height my vision is clear
Vast horizon's perspective revealed
Perilous journey dangerous climb
Seeking enlightenment or original sin
Mortal frailty limited time
Steep price paid for the avarice of men
Precariously balanced, I live on the edge
The view is better here
Sometimes I slip from a rocky ledge
Falling from grace and consumed with fear
