Robert L. Martin

Through the Rough

Through the Rough

Thickets and bushes with darkness looming
The road ahead, a discouraging journey
Moving forth without looking where he’s been
His visions locked in his stout-hearted being

Obstacles are feeble dragons to be slain
With damsels waiting on the other side
An easy life for those with big dreams
A fairy tale yet to be written

Onward to the castle, or wherever he goes
Waiting for him with no fear in his heart
But by a song of fortitude in the singing
While he marches on to his vision ahead

Hurrah, hurrah, for the bold and the brave
Hurrah, hurrah, he marches through the rough
With a song in heart he moves up ahead
Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah, hurrah
