Greatness in his Eyes

Like a tender sapling rises up proud,
Its eyes look a head above the crowd,

And you and I with greatness in our eyes
Lift ourselves up to the worldly skies.

We foretell our futures at an early age,
Our biography under way on the very first page.

We find what comes easy in our daily trials,
What is futility and what are worthwhiles.

When we find our talent, our apprenticeship begins.
Our love of what we do as our daily disciplines.

We see ourselves growing through our effort.
We become self imposed slaves through our work.

We find a love of labor through our dedication.
In our hearts we feel a contented emancipation.

The freedom of knowing what labor does to us
Gives us the desire to prolong its affect upon us.

We lift ourselves up to a new level of self-esteem,
Our knowledge of what love and dedication mean,

A new pleasure brought forth by the love of labor,
The desire to keep that pleasure for now and later,

All the ingredients to build the man of greatness:
A desire, a revelation, an insight, a trial, a plan,
Perseverance, and finding pleasure out of toil,
And feeling greatness building in our heart,
Leading to the look of greatness in our eyes,
And accomplishing what we set out to do.
