The Story of Music

Air upon air and sound upon sound
As music floats and swirls around

Sorrow upon sorrow and tears upon tears
As the music sinks in from external spheres

Notes upon notes and music upon music
As enchantment loosens the fibers of rhetoric

Motion upon motion and eye upon eye
As batons fly through the air with a sigh

Horns upon horns and strings upon strings
As rhythms thunder and the lady sings

Story upon story and theme upon theme
As music comes to life and reigns supreme

Coming to an end as everything must,
In life, in love, in music we trust,
The final note and the final breath,
But something else outside of death.
An encounter with the Almighty,
An encounter with heaven’s language,
And a lasting resonance in our soul.
